Xiaomi Ends Support for 7 Popular Devices: Here’s What It Means for Owners

If you’re holding onto a Xiaomi device from a few years back, it might be time to start planning your next move. Xiaomi has officially confirmed that seven devices will reach end-of-life (EOL) status in April 2025, cutting off future software updates — including critical security patches and operating system upgrades. This means that Xiaomi ends official support for these models.

It’s a shift that fits into Xiaomi’s usual update cycle, where older models eventually phase out after a few solid years of support. While your phone won’t suddenly stop working, it will slowly fall behind in security and app compatibility.

These Are the Devices Reaching EOL

Here’s the list Xiaomi provided:

It’s a wide spread — from gaming beasts like the POCO F4 GT to everyday essentials like the Redmi 10A, Xiaomi ends support for all types of phones.

Final Updates Before the Curtain Falls

Some of these devices are getting a last hurrah. Particularly the gaming models.

The POCO F4 GT will bow out with HyperOS 2.0.1.0 based on Android 14, while the Redmi K50 Gaming wraps things up with HyperOS 2.0.2.0. These final updates aim to leave performance-focused users with the latest features before the software tap shuts off for good.

Midrange and entry-level models, though, are ending their journeys a little earlier:

  • Redmi 10A stays frozen on MIUI 12.5.
  • Redmi Note 11S 5G and Note 11 Pro+ 5G will both cap out on HyperOS 1, running Android 13.
  • Xiaomi 11i and 11i HyperCharge also finish with HyperOS 1 based on Android 13.

No HyperOS 2 for these ones — but at least they get a fairly modern OS as their final stop.

What EOL Means for Your Device

EOL doesn’t mean your phone turns into a paperweight tomorrow. Apps will still work, you’ll still make calls and browse the web.

But without security updates, your device becomes increasingly vulnerable to new threats over time. And as app developers move to newer Android APIs, you’ll eventually see apps glitch, lag, or even stop installing altogether.

For those who want to stay protected — and enjoy the latest features — Xiaomi is gently nudging users toward newer devices. Models like the just-announced Xiaomi Pad 7, which comes with a six-year security update commitment, show how seriously Xiaomi is now taking long-term support.

In the end, it’s all about how much longer you’re willing to stretch your current device. Just know the clock has officially started ticking.
