The Vivo X200 Ultra went official today along with the Vivo X200S. As you may expect, the X200 Ultra stands as the big king of the family with compelling flagships specifications and exceptional camera performance. The smartphone is a beast of a camera phone with two ISPs and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. To make things further impressive, the phone comes with a lens add-on that enhances the smartphone’s photography abilities.
Vivo X200 Ultra Specs and Features
The Vivo X200 Ultra is the high-end smartphone of the lineup, so we can expect the best possible specifications. It comes with Qualcomm’s latest flagship SoC coupled with 12 GB or 16 GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM. The storage is UFS 4.1 and comes in three distinct options – 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB.
The X200 Ultra comes with a 10-bit 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with a QHD+ resolution, 4,500 nits peak brightness and up to 120 Hz Adaptive Refresh Rate. The phone has minimal bezels with a centered punch-hole for the selfie camera.
The camera is what makes the Vivo X200 Ultra a monster. It has always been the focal point of the vivo X-series, and the Ultra continues this legacy and even expands it. The phone comes with a V key on the right side, right where the index finger goes with digital cameras. It’s a customizable button that fits perfectly for a dedicated shutter trigger.
Two ISPs in One Flagship
The Vivo X200 Ultra has two dedicated camera chips. There is the Vivo V3+, the classic ISP for post-processing, and the new Vivo VS1. The latter is a new platform that aims to enhance exposure and focus, and take care of image stacking. It will forward the data when necessary to the V3+. In the end, the two chips will be capable of handling intensive tasks and delivering great results in noise reduction or sharpening.
The handset has three cameras on the rear. There is a 50 MP Sony LYT-818 1/1.28″ sensor with f/1.7 aperture at the front. Furthermore, there is a 200 MP long telephoto camera with a Samsung ISOCELL HP9 sensor that is 1/1.14″ and has an 85mm equivalent focal length. There is another 50 MP Sony LYT-818, which takes care of the ultra-wide shots. All cameras support 4K video recording at 120fps for slow-motion shots. The 4K at 60 fps video recording offers support for the Dolby Vision true colors feature. The selfie camera is also a powerful unit with 50 MP.
Unique Camera Add-On that Makes the Vivo X200 Ultra a King in This Category
The Vivo X200 Ultra aims to be defined as a camera smartphone, and a king in this regard. We all know that in the current industry, specs are not everything. After all, most of the flagships share similar camera capabilities.
To be different and make the Ultra a unique smartphone, Vivo brings an optional add-on zoom lens that acts as a teleconverter by bringing an extra 2.35x zoom on top of the telephoto camera’s current magnification. It results in images with an equivalent focal length of 200 mm. It comes in a special Photography Set that has several lenses, straps, a case that attaches to a grip with USB-C, and a separate 2,300 mAh battery.
Moving on, the smartphone has Android 15 with the latest Origin OS running atop. The device has a huge 6,000 mAh battery with 90W wired charging and 40W wireless charging.
Pricing and Availability
The Vivo X200 Ultra sells in Black or Red, and there is also a White version that imitates the design of Rimowa Suitcases. The starting price is CNY 6,499 ($900 / €775) for the 12GB/256GB variant. The high-end model with 16GB/1TB with satellite communications costs CNY 7,999 ($1,100/€950). This high-end model is the only one available with the Photography Set, with the price for the whole package set at CNY 9,699 ($1,350/€1,150).
As promising as it looks, we don’t think the Vivo X200 Ultra will make its way to international markets. It’s the kind of amazing and unique device that will remain exclusive to the domestic market.
