Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge review

Introduction and specs

It’s all about bleeding-edge design. The Galaxy S25 Edge is taking Samsung to places it hasn’t explored in recent years. It’s the lightest and thinnest Galaxy phone in a while now, and it arrives as a breath of fresh air in the era of behemoths with huge camera bumps and large bodies.

The Galaxy S25 Edge impresses with just 5.8mm thickness and 163g weight – as light as the smallest Galaxy S25, but considerably thinner. That’s not a small feat considering its 6.7-inch screen diagonal.

Speaking of display, the device doesn’t compromise in this regard at all. It features a high-end LTPO OLED panel with all the bells and whistles. The chipset is Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Elite, but there’s a catch. It has one fewer CPU core, which shouldn’t affect day-to-day usage. The chipset is powerful enough as is.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge specs at a glance:

  • Body: 158.2×75.6×5.8mm, 163g; Glass front (Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2), titanium frame, glass back (Gorilla Glass Victus 2); IP68 dust tight and water resistant (immersible up to 1.5m for 30 min).
  • Display: 6.70″ LTPO AMOLED 2X, 120Hz, HDR10+, 1440x3120px resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 513ppi.
  • Chipset: Qualcomm SM8750-3-AB Snapdragon 8 Elite (3 nm): 7-core (2×4.47 GHz Oryon V2 Phoenix L + 5×3.53 GHz Oryon V2 Phoenix M); Adreno 830.
  • Memory: 256GB 12GB RAM, 512GB 12GB RAM.
  • OS/Software: Android 15, One UI 7.
  • Rear camera: Wide (main): 200 MP, f/1.7, 24mm, 1/1.3″, 0.6µm, multi-directional PDAF, OIS; Ultra wide angle: 12 MP, f/2.2, 13mm, 1/2.55″, 1.4µm, PDAF.
  • Front camera: 12 MP, f/2.2, 26mm (wide), 1/3.2″, 1.12µm, dual pixel PDAF.
  • Video capture: Rear camera: 8K@30fps, 4K@30/60/120fps, 1080p@30/60/120/240fps; Front camera: 4K@30/60fps, 1080p@30/60fps.
  • Battery: 3900mAh; 25W wired, PD, QC2.0, 55% in 30 min, 15W wireless (Qi2 Ready).
  • Connectivity: 5G; eSIM; Wi-Fi 7; BT 5.4; NFC.
  • Misc: Fingerprint reader (under display, ultrasonic); stereo speakers; Samsung DeX, Ultra Wideband (UWB) support.

Another obvious compromise is the battery. The device packs a 3,900 mAh unit, less than what you would find in the small Galaxy S25. Charging is rated at 25W and Samsung was able to cram inside a charging coil for wireless charging too.

The camera department is a mixture of the Galaxy S25 Ultra and the S25/S25+. The S25 Edge borrows the big 200MP sensor from the S25 Ultra and the ultrawide from the S25/S25+, but with added autofocus. The only thing missing is a telephoto camera, but that’s to be expected from a phone this thin.

It’s obvious that Samsung took the “design over function” route with the S25 Edge, and it’s aimed at users looking for the best possible portability. Will this be a winning strategy, and will Samsung pave the way for a future market segment? Let’s find out.

Unboxing the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge

The Galaxy S25 Edge arrives in a thin, modest box containing only one USB-C to USB-C cable for charging and data transfer and the usual user manuals.

The charger itself isn’t included, of course, so you’d have to buy one separately from Samsung. The phone supports up to 25W fast charging over Power Delivery, but with Samsung’s proprietary PPS.
