Google is working on a new look for Android 16. A fresh leak has now shown what the updated battery icon will look like, and it’s quite different from what we’re used to.

Right now, Android 16 doesn’t look very new in the beta versions. But behind the scenes, Google is clearly working on a big visual update. This includes a new design style called Material 3 Expressive. Google even hinted at it in one of their own blog posts recently.

Android 16 New Battery Icon

One of the biggest changes we’re now seeing is the battery icon. A leaker named Mystic Leaks shared pictures on Telegram of the redesigned battery icon. It’s shaped horizontally with rounded corners, giving it a softer, cleaner look. It’s a big shift from the sharper style Android users have seen for years. In fact, the new look feels closer to Samsung’s One UI 7 or even iOS, Apple’s iPhone software.

But it’s not just about looks. This new battery icon also changes based on what’s happening with your device:

  • When your phone hits 20% battery, the icon turns red to warn you.
  • If battery saver is on, it turns yellow with a “+” symbol next to it.
  • When your phone is charging, the icon turns green and shows a little lightning bolt on the side.

Why This Change is NecessaryAndroid 16 Battery

These changes make it easier to see what’s going on with your phone at a quick glance. You won’t need to pull down the menu or check settings — the icon tells the story.

While this is just one part of Android 16, it shows how serious Google is about refreshing the look and feel of Android. The new design is not just prettier, it’s also smarter and more helpful. More visual changes are expected in the coming weeks as Android 16 continues to evolve.
