As expected, Motorola is updating its smartphone lineup with a bunch of new G-series models for the mid-range market. The devices are very similar, with just some differences in the specs to justify their names and position in Motorola’s mid-range ladder. In common, they have 5G chipsets and generous batteries for a low price. The Moto G86 and G86 Power come with the same basic hardware, with a difference in the battery size. The latter has the largest battery to come in a Motorola smartphone with 6,720 mAh capacity. The Moto G56 is a more affordable variant with toned-down specifications and more affordable pricing.

Moto G86 and G86 Power

The Moto G86 and G86 Power share the same 6.67-inch OLED screen with Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The panel offers up to 4,500 nits of peak local brightness, which is decent for a mid-range smartphone. It also comes with Gorilla Glass 7i protection and an embedded fingerprint scanner. The presence of an OLED screen and an in-display fingerprint sensor is here to show how Motorola’s mid-range phones are finally evolving in the technology applied.

Underhood both devices come with the 5G-ready MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC. It is paired with 8 GB of RAM and 256GB/512GB of Internal Storage. The camera department includes a 50 MP main camera (LYT-600), alongside an ultrawide lens with support for macro mode. There is a punch-hole cutout at the display that serves as a home for the 32 MP selfie shooter.

Both devices run Android 15, and at least one update for Android 16 is expected. It’s almost vanilla Android with small changes and Motorola apps. The Moto G86 comes with a 5,200 mAh battery. The current trend of 7000mAh batteries should make this less impressive, but this is still more than enough for daily usage without compromises. If you need more, the Moto G86 Power honors its name with a 6,720 mAh capacity. Both phones offer 30W charging and, IP68/IP69 rating for water and dust protection. There is even a military-grade MIL-STD-810H rating.

Moto G86 and G86 Power sell in Pantone Spellbound, Pantone Cosmic Sky, Pantone Golden Cypress, and Pantone Chrysanthemum color options. The standard variant sells for €299 in Germany and £280 in the UK. The G86 Power comes in €329 and £299  in these respective regions.

Moto G56

As aforementioned, the G56 is a simpler model with a more affordable price. It still brings a 5G processor and a decent battery, though. The device has a large 6.72-inch LCD screen with Full HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate.
