Xiaomi’s next upper-midrange phone, the 15T, is now official—sort of. It’s been quietly added to the GSMA IMEI database under model number 25069PTEBG, confirming what many already suspected: a global launch is close.
But there’s a catch. The 15T, like its Pro counterpart, won’t be released in India or Japan. That’s a curious decision for a company that’s historically relied on the Indian market for scale. Instead, Xiaomi is focusing on regions like Europe, Turkey, Taiwan, and Indonesia. Maybe the 15T just doesn’t fit India’s current midrange trends. Or maybe they’re holding something else for later. Hard to say.
Xiaomi 15T – what do we know so far?
So what do we know about the phone? For starters, it’s running MediaTek’s Dimensity 8400+ chip, placing it a notch below the 15T Pro’s Dimensity 9400+—the same chip powering China’s Redmi K80 Ultra. Xiaomi’s trying hard to draw a line between devices that look similar but target different users.
On cameras, the Xiaomi 15T is decently equipped: a 50MP main (Omnivision OVX800), 50MP telephoto (Samsung S5KJN5), 13MP ultra-wide, and a 32MP front sensor. It’s not a photography powerhouse, but it covers all the essentials. And with a 5,500mAh battery and 67W fast charging, it should last long and charge quickly—if not quite as fast as the 90W speed found in the Pro version.
What’s interesting is how Xiaomi’s tightening the differences between its global and Chinese lineups. Devices like the 15T Pro and K80 Ultra share processors but diverge in design. Meanwhile, models like the 15T are meant to hit that “good enough for most people” zone. And they might just do that.
With an official launch likely weeks away, Xiaomi seems set on regional optimization over one-size-fits-all flagships. Whether that works depends on how it’s priced—and where it lands.
