Microsoft is releasing an exciting Windows 11 update. There is a new feature being tested in the operating system’s preview builds that enables native creation of GIFs—without needing any third-party app. The update enhances the Snipping Tool, which has been used classically for screen captures and screenshots. It now also creates animated pictures in GIF format.

A Less Complicated Way of Making GIFs

This is now available to users in the Dev and Canary versions of Windows 11. The main goal is to make the user experience better by offering more built-in capabilities. In the past, Windows users needed other apps or websites to make GIFs. With this new feature, no longer is that necessary.

Additionally, with the new Snipping Tool, individuals are able to snap a section of their screen and send the clip as a GIF right away. This allows them to create fast, shareable animations right from the desktop in a snap.

Ideal for Many Uses

GIFs are widely in use now. People use them to share in social media, contribute to tutorials, and contribute to technical manuals. The new use is simple to make these animations without leaving Windows.

The new Snipping Tool also includes quality and length controls. People can take low or high quality, based on their needs. Recordings are 30 seconds or less in length, maintaining manageable file sizes.

Also, this versatility enables users to balance performance with quality. You can create a high-res tutorial or a fast meme, depending on your requirements.

Embedded and Easy

Because the feature is built into the Snipping Tool, there is no learning curve. The UI is simple and clean. Most of your users will find it easy to use right away.

At this moment, the GIF feature is currently in beta testing. But if all goes well, it will most likely be part of the final cut of Windows 11 in the near future.

This update shows Microsoft‘s commitment to improving tasks within the system itself. So, would you use this built-in GIF creator? Is it an interesting addition? Let us know in the comments!
