The upcoming Nothing Phone (3) is shaping up to be a big step forward for the company. Along with better hardware, the London-based tech manufacturer is promising much longer software support. This is a major change compared to the previous model.

Powerful Chip Brings Better Performance

Nothing has confirmed that the Phone (3) will use the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip. This new processor is faster and smarter than the one in the Phone (2). According to company co-founder Akis Evangelidis, the chip brings 8% better GPU performance, 33% faster CPU, and 125% boost in AI (NPU) tasks. In simple terms, users can expect smoother gaming, quicker apps, and smarter features.

Longer Software Support

More good news came the next day. Evangelidis shared that this new chip also makes it easier to support the smartphone for a longer time. The Phone (3) will get 5 years of Android OS updates and 7 years of security patches. This is a huge jump from the Phone (2), which only got 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security fixes.

Longer software support means your phone stays fast, safe, and useful for many years. Most Android phones only get about three years of updates. The Nothing Phone (3) is going beyond that. This is great for people who don’t want to buy a new phone every few years. Ensuring longer software updates helps save money.

Extended software support guarantees that the smartphone will remain functional, protected, and responsive for many years. Typically, Android phones get about three years of updates. However, some brands like Samsung and Google have now extended that to seven years. Nothing now joins these heavyweights to deliver seven years of updates.

Prolonged update delivery contributes significantly to the economic preservation of mobile phones. These manufacturers can use the long update period to justify the ever-increasing price of these smartphones.

Launch Coming Soon

The Nothing Phone (3) is set to launch in the month of July. With a powerful chip and longer support, it could be a good choice for Android users. What Nothing is trying to achieve is uniqueness in an overly saturated market. And if they keep to their word, the Nothing Phone (3) could be their best device yet.
